Welcome to the Blacksburg Chinese School Website!

LACKSBURG CHINESE SCHOOL 黑堡中文学校 Blacksburg Chinese School

Blacksburg Chinese School (BCS) is a non-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our goal is to provide cross-cultural education in Blacksburg and the surrounding community.
We offer weekend and after-school Chinese language classes and several different cultural classes such as Chinese yoyo, Chinese dance, and martial art classes.

Is BCS for your child?

Does your family speak Mandarin Chinese at home (so-called heritage language learner)?  If so, BCS can provide your child instructions with native speakers in reading and writing Chinese.  Our advanced students can pass AP Chinese exam to earn college credit and become truly proficient in multiple languages and cultures.

Is your child interested in learning Chinese as a second language (so-called non-heritage language learner)?  Ability in another language opens doors.  Studies show that early and frequent exposure to another language helps students with accent and pronunciation.  We provide cultural opportunities through art, Chinese yoyo, dance, song, and, as well as language training.

We invite New River Valley residents to join the Blacksburg Chinese School family and enjoy cross-cultural educational opportunities.  Our fall community Open House is on Saturday, August 18 from 2-4 pm.

After-school Chinese @ Kipps on Wednesdays starting on August 29.

Chinese yoyo on Saturdays at Blacksburg Public Library starting on August 11.
