Volume 04 Issue 11

What will happen:

  • Half of the semester has passed.
  • BCS students took their midterm test of this semester in October.
  • The online stories will continue coming for BCS kids.

What happened during in October:

1. Each grade level of the Maliping Chinese textbook is divided into 3 units, with a test administered at the end of each unit. In the 11th week of the school year (October 18 – October 24), all students in the heritage classes took their first test of the year. With the help of their parents and teachers, the students studied hard and made great progress, as reflected by their test results. More importantly, it is apparent that the students’ self-confidence and interest in learning Chinese have been growing. Everyone is doing a great job! Keep it up!

2. On October 31, Halloween 2020, Uncle Chen (Yimin Chen), an expert specializing in training kindergarten teachers in China on storytelling, was invited to share traditional Chinese myths and stories with BCS kids. Uncle Chen brought two classical Chinese stories: “Journey to the West – the Birth of the Monkey King” and “Ji Gong’s Cricket Fighting”. Both stories aroused great enthusiasm and strong interest among the children. In the end, they made the request to get Uncle Chen to come back in the future to continue the stories of “Journey to the West”. Stay tuned for more stories on the Monkey King.
